    • OPEN Center for the Arts (2214 S Sacramento Ave)

OPEN Center for the Arts presents Cariño, a film festival dedicated to providing a platform for emerging filmmakers under the ages of 26 across the city of Chicago to express themselves artistically. The artists have the opportunity to present and receive feedback for their work by a panel of working professionals.

The festival was created in honor of Zedrick "Cariño” Alfredo Aurelio who passed away at the age of 26 due to a prolonged battle with adenoid cancer. Cariño dedicated his life to bringing people together and was an instrumental part in the filmmaking journeys of both his brother Andres Aurelio and friend Salvador Salazar. Zedrick's unconditional support and guidance has served as the foundation for what they hope to provide for the festival's participating youth.
