Come on Down to Mozart Park for "Paquito D' Rivera: From Carne y Frijol to Carnegie Hall"

Produced by the International Latino Cultural Center and the Chicago Latino Film Festival in collaboration with the Chicago Parks District’s Movies in the Park program, this free family-friendly film series features selections from past festivals. Screenings start at dusk.

As a preamble to Paquito D'Rivera's concert as part of the Chicago Jazz Festival, September 6, the series present this lively and heartfelt documentary that traces his remarkable life and career. A virtuoso clarinetist, saxophonist, and composer, D’Rivera left Cuba in 1980 at great personal risk, forging an immigrant success story defined by brilliance, humor, and reinvention. Filmed across New York, Boston, Miami, and Uruguay, the film features intimate performances and collaborations with D’Rivera’s longtime friend Chucho Valdes and world-renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma.
